Wymore, Neb. — During public comment at the Nov. 5 meeting, resident Jeff Murphey urged the city and local school to work together to obtain a school resource officer or other local police presence.
Council member Neil Van Boening said the Police Department Advisory Committee is exploring recruitment options for a permanent police chief, including hiring a professional headhunting agency and offering a hiring bonus; the council agreed to place the hiring-bonus discussion on a future agenda.
No formal personnel action was taken at the meeting; council members described the items as matters for future consideration and directed staff and advisory committees to continue recruitment efforts and return with proposals.
