Wymore attorney: Gambles building report due Nov. 1; inspections and deed issues underway

City Attorney Andy Carothers updated the Wymore City Council on ongoing dilapidated-property work at the Oct. 15 meeting.
Carothers said the final report for the Gambles building is due to the state on Nov. 1 and that he is scheduling inspection dates for three properties the city has identified as dilapidated. He reported the Sommerville house will require an inspection warrant, which he expected to obtain in roughly a week. Councilperson Neil Van Boening asked whether the deed on a 7th Street property had been filed; Carothers said he has taken up the deed and that the city will owe a small amount of taxes on that property.
Carothers also asked that the council add discussion about applying for another Downtown Revitalization Grant to the first meeting in December so the council can consider funding opportunities for downtown improvements. No formal enforcement action or deadline extension beyond the Nov. 1 report was recorded at the meeting.
