Wymore council adopts $250 water tap fee, approves tractor-pull site and records several routine motions

The Wymore City Council met Oct. 15 in the council chambers and approved a set of routine items before taking several operational votes.
Councilperson Max Allen moved and Curt Oblinger seconded approval of the minutes from the previous meeting; the motion carried 4-0. The treasurer’s report was approved 4-0. The council approved claims and payroll except for checks #30449 and #30471 by a 4-0 vote; later the council approved check #60471 by a 3-0 vote with Allen abstaining and approved check #30449 by a 3-0 vote with Oblinger abstaining.
City Superintendent Tim Sedlacek presented a revised fees list and invoices for recent water-tap installations. Council adopted a $250 water tap fee; the fee was described as covering trenching, boring and materials and to be included in the hookup charge. The motion to adopt the fee was made by Councilperson Max Allen, seconded by Councilperson Sue Sapp, and carried 4-0.
Organizers Joe and Kaylynn McCormick and Dan Howell told the council they are looking for a more permanent location for the community tractor-pull circuit. City Attorney Andy Carothers requested that the city be named as an additional insured on the event policy and that the city receive a copy of the certificate of insurance. With no park board opposition reported, Councilperson Max Allen moved to allow use of the old skating rink for tractor pulls; the motion carried 4-0.
Late in the meeting the council entered executive session at 9:35 p.m. “for the protection of the public interest and the prevention of needless injury to the reputation of an individual,” and returned to open session at 10:11 p.m. The meeting adjourned at 10:13 p.m.
