A local entrepreneur identified as Charlie demonstrated a beta version of 'Cycling City' at the BPAC meeting, a web-based mapping tool that aggregates bike lanes, greenways, bike-share inventories (private and public), repair stations, public water fountains and other cycling resources.
Charlie showed map filters for protected and buffered bike lanes, shared streets and levels-of-traffic-stress styling, and noted features for signed-in users including the ability to report water-fountain status, update bike rack types and capacities, save map views and rate infrastructure. The tool also integrates What3Words for precise location reporting and displays council-district and police-precinct overlays. Charlie said beta users can add photos and that future functionality may include ride logging, heat maps and vehicle-radar-derived safety data.
BPAC members responded positively and asked questions about integration with Metro systems and opportunities to surface plan and project information; Charlie invited commissioners to register as beta users and to provide feedback.
