Residents urge investigation and ban on "wrap" restraint after June custody death

Anthony Drobrick criticized the Sheriff's advisory board, saying it was set up so members "are subject to removal by the Sheriff" and describing it as "an echo chamber" that lacks true oversight. Anne Marie and Laura Connor both asked the board to ensure the investigation is independent, to consider a ban on the wrap device, and to release names and footage to the public.
Speakers also tied the issue to broader demands for sheriff accountability. Manuela described Harlan's death as "death" and said the use of the wrap constituted a barbaric restraint that must be ended. Steve and others urged that deputies involved be identified and that all relevant video evidence be made available.
Board members did not take immediate action on the calls for a ban or a review board during the meeting. The public record shows sustained community pressure: speakers urged release of body-camera footage, requests for officer names, and formation of civilian oversight with investigatory authority. Several callers said they will continue to press the board for concrete steps.
