Council approves site for BMX pump track using $150,000 grant and city match

Page — The Page City Council voted Nov. 12 to accept a $150,000 grant and use a matching $150,000 budget allocation to build a BMX pump track. Staff recommended a location at the south end of the annex because required infrastructure — restroom facilities, paved parking, electric and water — already exists there, allowing the city to meet grant conditions within its budget.
Community Services Director Debbie Winlock and staff member Justin reviewed design options and said the project could be implemented at 7,000–10,000 square feet within the present budget or be scaled up later. Staff noted that many candidate sites lacked the necessary all-weather parking, restrooms and utilities the grant requires, which limited feasible locations.
The parks and recreation advisory board recommended the selected annex site. Councilors emphasized that the pump track is intended as an inclusive, year-round amenity usable by cyclists, skateboarders and wheelchair users. Council moved to approve the parks board’s recommended site and to accept the grant. The motion passed by voice vote.
Next steps: staff will work with the parks board and contractors to finalize design consistent with grant requirements and return with scope and timeline proposals.
