Lower Pottsgrove reports spring paving, ash-tree removals and park prep

At the July 28, 2025, meeting of the Lower Pottsgrove Township Parks and Recreation Board, Administrative Assistant Samantha Cronrath summarized public-works and parks maintenance activity from April through June.

Cronrath told the board that in April crews patched potholes townshipwide, cut shoulders on Sunnybrook Road, cleared open-space trails, reshaped Kurtz's fields and added infield mix, and removed eleven dead ash trees along Kepler Road. Staff also painted stop bars at multiple state-road intersections and boom-mowed several local roads.

In May, Cronrath said, crews continued pothole patching, removed twelve additional dead ash trees on Kepler Road at Briarwood, boom-mowed a set of roads, cleaned curb lines and prepared streets for oil-and-chip work, replaced four manhole castings on Prospect Hill in advance of paving, and weed-whacked bridges and guide rails in preparation for spraying.

Cronrath reported that June work included another round of pothole repairs, the first application of bridge and guiderail spraying, boom mowing, repair of a drainage issue at Orlando and Maugers Mill Roads, replacement of four manhole castings on Karen and Tyler ahead of paving, and milling and paving of Karen, Prospect Hill, Cedar Hill, N. Adams and Roland. She also listed oil-and-chip and sealing work on several streets and site preparations for the Summer Concert Series, including bandshell and playground cleaning and restroom readiness at Sanatoga Park.

Other operational notes included upfitting a 2013 Ford F-350 with a new flatbed, and a public-works staff member taking the state applicator exam for spraying.

The board did not take formal action on the report; the item was provided for information and coordination.
