Lower Pottsgrove staff report spring park maintenance and approve school field use

At the April 28 Parks and Recreation Board meeting, administrative staff summarized a range of spring maintenance projects and said a school field use request had been approved.
Cronrath reported that Public Works patched potholes townshipwide, created a turnaround at the end of Clearview Road using millings, cleared open spaces and trails, rebuilt storm boxes on Brookwood Drive and Brookside Road, removed fallen trees on Yerger Road, and removed 19 dead ash trees on Snell Road. She said crews turned and dragged ballfields at Gerald Richard Park and took delivery of a new Exmark Lazer zero-turn mower.
Cronrath also reported accessibility improvements: a concrete pad poured for an ADA picnic table at Ringing Rocks Park and installation of an ADA railing at the Sanatoga Park bandshell. Board members praised the Public Works crew for their work at both Gerald Richard and Ringing Rocks parks.
On a scheduling and access issue, Cronrath said Coventry Christian School requested Gerald Richard Park for a May 22 field day. She said there were no field conflicts and that she and the Township Manager approved the field use application; Cronrath confirmed the school paid the rental fee and that the event will occur during school hours. Board members raised a concern that a fence had been locked during a weekend game; Cronrath asked to be notified if the fence is locked when it should not be so staff can address it.
Board members also asked for an update on park grants and on continued fundraising for Adventure Grove. No formal board action was recorded on the maintenance items or the grant follow-up; routine approvals and operational items will proceed under staff direction.
