Council accepts $10,000 amendment to Older Americans Act contract to boost senior meals

The Parker Town Council voted to accept an amended contract that adds $10,000 to the town’s Older Americans Act funding, Nora told the council during agenda item discussion.
Nora said the original contract amount for the July 1, 2025–June 30, 2026 period "was for $273,307" and the amendment "increases the total by $10,000," which she said will increase home-delivery and meals-in-the-center services. She described the additional funds as effectively a gift and stated there would be "no increased obligations" for the town.
Nora explained that WACOG is the holder/administrator of the larger contract shared among the town, the county and Quartzsite; she said the counties have budgeted to maintain current funding levels and that staff will follow up with budget numbers and a fuller financial report when available. She also noted that WACOG often reallocates small amounts of unused funds to communities at this time of year.
Council moved, seconded and approved acceptance of the amended contract by voice vote.
The council requested follow-up financial information; staff indicated Dennis will provide a report at a future meeting with the year-to-date numbers and next-year budget projections.
