He reported the Belmont Avenue firehouse, assessed at $775,000, sold at auction for $1.4 million. He said the borough expects to purchase the new municipal building where the meeting was held for about $9.2 million and described plans for the building’s layout: police operations and vehicle storage on the lower level, municipal offices on the main floor and the library on the second floor. Mayor George told residents, "Your taxes are going up and to get ready." The council did not vote on a purchase at the meeting; the mayor framed the statements as remarks about borough plans.
