Select Board elects Christopher Nolan as chair and confirms staff appointments, including town attorney

Christopher Nolan was elected Select Board chair during Camden’s organizational meeting, and the board confirmed a slate of town manager appointments and reappointments on unanimous votes.
At the start of the organizational session a member nominated Christopher Nolan for chair "pursuant to Article 2, Section 2.06 of the Town Charter," and the board voted in favor. Nolan told the board he would "do our best to run meetings so that everyone has the ability to speak" and emphasized respectful, orderly public-comment procedures.
The board unanimously reappointed Chris Farley as fire chief and Carrie Leishman as assessor after a motion and second; the transcript records the vote as "Motion passes 5-0." A separate motion to reappoint Dave St. Laurent as superintendent of the wastewater department was made, seconded and carried with no opposition.
The Select Board also considered the town manager’s slate of appointments (treasurer, tax collector, town clerk, general assistance administrator and department heads). The clerk read the list of nominees including Jordy Richards (treasurer), Margaret Hunt (tax collector), Julia Merrill (town clerk), Janice Easoncy (general assistance administrator and assistant town manager), Jeremy Martin (planning and development director), and others, and the board confirmed those appointments.
On legal services, the board voted to reappoint Bill Kelly as town attorney. Board members cited his experience as a reason for support; the vote is recorded as five in favor and zero opposed.
The board accepted a donated Generac diesel generator from Brock Health (Bella Point Camden Assisted Living) for the public-safety building. Chief Chris Farley explained the unit was installed in 1998 and that moving and installation will require site work; he estimated the concrete slab cost at roughly $24,000. The motion to accept the donation passed 5-0.
The Select Board closed the organizational portion and moved into the regular meeting. Several housekeeping and procedural items were clarified on the record, including a planned amendment to the meeting agenda to include the town-attorney confirmation.
The board is scheduled to go into executive session under M.R.S.A. 405(6)(A) on a personnel matter later in the meeting.
