The Baboquivari Unified School District #40 governing board voted on several routine items Aug. 12, approving a policy adoption, an intergovernmental agreement and personnel recommendations.
The board approved the second reading and adoption of policy JNDB-EA (motion carried). The board also voted to approve an intergovernmental agreement with the Joint Technical Education District (JTED) designed to continue the partnership for career and technical education services.
Personnel actions approved included the hire of Mr. Ethan Anton (position described as culture-related in the superintendent's remarks) and the reclassification of Dedra Ortega from substitute teacher to pre-K teacher. One board member abstained from the reclassification vote due to a family relationship; the transcript indicates the motion passed. The consent agenda was approved without objection. The meeting adjourned at 7:28 p.m.
All formal approvals were recorded on the public agenda; board members did not request additional follow-up on these items at the time of the votes.
