Councilman Woods offers amendment to raise small permit fees, aims to spur housing production

Woods said the changes are intended to support local builders and housing production and that he expects the amendment to take effect Jan. 1, 2027 if adopted.
Woods thanked administration staff for assistance drafting the amendment and said he will file the amendment with the clerk for consideration at the meeting. Council members praised the collaborative work and emphasized the city's goal of supporting new housing construction and renovation.
The amendment had not yet been formally adopted in the pre-meeting record; Woods said he would provide the clerk with the full text and intended to offer it on the floor. Council members who spoke expressed support for moving the item forward to final consideration.
