County approves full replacement of courthouse roof after staff outlines repair options

Staff presented two options: a patch estimated at no more than $5,000 that would not come with a warranty, or a full roof replacement for an additional $4,500 that would include a 15-year warranty.
"They found gashes and all that kind of stuff in it," the contractor said during the presentation, noting the replacement option carries a long-term warranty and that a reseal at about year 15 would extend the roof's service. Commissioners discussed maintenance-history details and noted that budgeted general maintenance funds can cover the work. After brief discussion, a motion to replace the roof (rather than patch it) was made and approved by voice vote.
Staff will schedule the replacement and coordinate contract details; commissioners asked staff to note warranty terms in the meeting minutes and to report back on scheduling and any additional cost clarifications.
