County engineer says 2025 road projects carry into 2026; $612,000 in funds set to carry over

County Engineer Lynn Ralls told the Covington County Commission on Jan. 27 that two 2025 road projects remain unfinished and funds and contracts will carry into the current year.
Ralls said Rosin Ridge and Union Grove roads were not completed in 2025 and will carry over into 2026. He reported $405,000 in County Rebuild funds and $207,000 in federal aid-exchange funds will likely carry over. Ralls noted a certificate of compliance requires at least 50% of work be contracted; he said the county currently has about 95% contracted.
Commissioners received the update; no formal action was taken at the meeting on the transportation plan. Ralls also provided brief project-status notes elsewhere in the agenda, including an update on Eden Creek Bridge preparations tied to a power-pole relocation.
