The Covington County Commission on Jan. 15 voted to adopt a resolution and a companion letter opposing a proposed carbon‑capture project described as potentially planned just south of a local area referenced in the packet.
A commissioner who said they represent District 3 and live within the affected area urged adoption, saying community organizers and neighbors had worked to oppose similar projects in the past. The commission approved both the resolution and the letter to be sent to the governor, the state oil and gas board and other recipients the commission directed staff to add.
