Select Board approves $3.3M Pound Pond restoration and several municipal votes, including cart-barn and pole replacement

The Select Board approved a package of municipal contracts and routine governance votes at its April meeting.
Contracts: The board authorized the town administrator to execute a $3,319,644.25 contract with Robert Auer for the Pound Pond restoration project, which staff described as a water-quality dredging and habitat restoration funded largely by MVP and other grants. The board also approved a $505,000 contract for a cart-barn renovation at the Dennis Highlands Golf Course; the golf director said the work is funded by golfers and reviewed by town counsel.
Utilities and permits: The board approved Eversource's petition to install one joint-owned pole (No. 60-8.5) on Inman Road to replace a decaying pole on private property; staff said the petition drew no comments at the advertised hearing. The board also adopted a revised sustainable purchasing policy (replacing the town's prior buy-recycle policy) to maintain eligibility for state sustainable-materials grants and to fund a planned permanent digital sign at the transfer station.
Community preservation and grants: The board accepted a CPC recommendation to extend the Dennis Housing Authority grant agreement through Dec. 31, 2028 to preserve current enrollees' funding. The board endorsed the town engineer's application for CPC and other grants for a proposed Portside Community Park at 187 Upper County Road.
Votes on union-placed warrant articles to support recently negotiated AFSCME, SEIU and MLDC agreements were taken as a slate and supported unanimously. The meeting concluded with routine reappointments, seasonal license approvals and a motion to adjourn into executive session to consider executive session minutes review.
