Treasurer reports bond interest and planned drawdown; superintendent previews summer construction and strategic-plan update

The district treasurer told the Brooklyn City Board of Education the district earned $134,295 in bond interest for May and reported state foundation receipts and investment earnings for the fiscal year to date. She said the district has a cash/bond balance she stated in the transcript as "17 million891485," which the treasurer described as roughly $17.9 million, and that she planned to process a drawdown of a little over $1 million this week to reimburse the operating fund before the fiscal year closes on June 30.
The treasurer also summarized revenue composition year-to-date: levy income at roughly 69% of total revenue, foundation/state funds about 10%, investments 3% and other sources the remainder, and reported year-to-date state receipts of $2,582,291.
Superintendent reported the school year concluded successfully, praised staff and students and outlined summer project work: walkway completion in two to three weeks, foundational work and cleaning of stadium bleachers, cafeteria flooring cleaning, window installations and classrooms being finished by the end of summer with some window work possibly continuing into the fall; ceilings and flooring work is planned in the first-floor hallway and board/treasurer offices. The superintendent said he will circulate the annual strategic plan update to the board this week and hopes for a July discussion/mini-retreat to set goals for the 2026-27 school year.
The superintendent and board members also noted community programs and summer staffing: about 15 students assisting with summer work, summer enrichment programs and extended-school-year services were discussed and will be confirmed through approved personnel items.
