Brooklyn City board approves broad consent agenda, personnel hires and athletics assignments

The Brooklyn City Board of Education on Tuesday approved a wide-ranging consent agenda that included approval of minutes, May financial statements, an amended five-year forecast and fiscal year 2027 permanent appropriations.
Treasurer reported that the board approved an agreement with Shikley Ohio school comp and a three-year Medicaid audit engagement with Charles Harris. The board also approved standard consent items for student accommodations, honors, handbooks, student fees, food- and beverage standards and athletic ticket and worker-rate schedules for the 2026—7 school year.
On personnel, the board approved certified and classified employment for 2026—7, extended-school-year staffing and summer personnel, long-term classified pay-scale classification changes, unpaid leaves and an amendment to an exempt contract start date. The board approved supplemental coaching assignments for cross-country coaches Carly Kubc, Megan Borrow and Zack Caller, contingent on Ohio High School Athletic Association rules and state certification requirements.
A recorded roll call showed the measures passed by majority votes with one abstention noted during the personnel consent votes. The board also agreed to hold a special meeting on Friday, June 26, at 4:00 p.m. in the treasurer's conference room to approve an assistant-principal hire and to consider additional employment recommendations.
The board set its next regular meetings for July 21 and Aug. 4 at 6:15 p.m.
