Ty Gorman, an associate principal at Barrington High School, joined the June 16 Barrington CUSD 220 Board of Education meeting to recognize 11 recent alumni who earned a perfect 36 on the ACT this past school year. The board and audience applauded as Gorman read the names of students who could attend: Lahari Beeram, Mason Flunker, Caitlin Leonard, Shehan Mittal, Benjamin Rolland, Carlos Sayas, Henry Timian, Noel Turick, Sydney (Cindy) Wang, Michael Wetkey and Arya Zubalik.
The board asked the students light questions about their next steps and summer plans. Students described colleges they will attend — including Purdue, the University of Illinois, Notre Dame, Duke and Bowdoin — and shared brief test‑prep tips tied to district resources. One student said Barrington’s test‑prep and online practice opportunities were particularly helpful.
Board members praised the students’ accomplishments. The recognition was followed by a brief photo session and informal conversation; no board action was required. The district said it would include the recognition in its summer communications to residents.
The recognition underscores the district’s academic achievements and was framed as a celebration of students, staff and family supports.
