During a closed session to discuss litigation under attorney–client privilege, Murray County’s counsel presented a negotiated settlement with the Minnesota Department of Transportation. After returning to open session, a commissioner moved to approve the agreement and to authorize the board chair to sign on behalf of the county. The motion passed by voice vote.
County counsel requested the closed session to permit attorney–client deliberation. The board did not discuss settlement terms in open session; minutes record the board’s approval and authorization to sign. The county will proceed with executing the agreement and any related administrative steps.
