RSU 23 schedules public budget workshops and welcomes MDOE PBE extension visit

Superintendent Lloyd Crocker updated the RSU 23 board March 8 on the districts budget process and proficiency-based education work. The district scheduled two public budget workshops to present the proposed 2016-2017 budget and solicit public feedback: the first on March 9 and the second on March 22, both at the Old Orchard Beach High School cafe9.
Crocker also said the Maine Department of Education will conduct a proficiency-based education (PBE) extension site visit on Thursday, May 26 to review district progress and provide feedback based on last years visit and a specific review protocol. The minutes say the administration feels "really good" about district progress on PBE work to date.
The meeting also noted schoolwide community activities such as Read Across America and several administrator updates on testing and calendar items; the Calendar Committee will present an updated draft in April reflecting any proposed start-time changes.
