RSU 23 board approves graduation policies, appoints John Suttie as superintendent/principal and approves student termination

The RSU 23 school board voted unanimously March 8 to approve two graduation-related policies and to appoint John Suttie as the districts superintendent of schools and principal of Old Orchard Beach High School, pending contract negotiations for the 2016-17 school year.
A motion by Michelle Violette, seconded by David Boudreau, approved policies IKF (Graduation Requirements) and IKFF (Multiple Pathways) "as written," the minutes record. The motion passed unanimously.
Separately, a motion by David Boudreau, seconded by Stuart Hogan, appointed John Suttie to the combined superintendent/principal position pending contract negotiations beginning with the 2016-2017 school year. The motion passed unanimously.
The board also approved, by unanimous vote, a motion by Michelle Violette and second by Stuart Hogan to terminate attendance for an Old Orchard Beach High School student, citing a letter dated Feb. 22, 2016 and authority under 20 M.R.S.A. §911, subsection 1. The minutes do not record the students name.
All recorded votes on these agenda items were unanimous according to the minutes. The meeting minutes note that policies are available for public review on the RSU 23 website and that personnel matters were discussed in executive session where appropriate.
