York council approves event alcohol licenses, equipment quote and a mover’s permit

Council approved several consent-agenda items Aug. 21: a special designated license for Blended Distilling at the county fairgrounds, an approved slate of licenses for the Sip and Stroll event, purchase of exercise equipment for the new fire station ($36,587.86), and a mover’s permit to relocate a 2004 modular home to a property south of East First Street.
At its Aug. 21 meeting the City of York council approved a set of consent and routine items including special designated licenses, a capital-equipment purchase and a mover’s permit.
Blended Distilling: Derek Keller, owner of Blended Distilling, said he intends to offer small samples at a Sept. 14 harvest market at the York County Fairgrounds Mercantile Building. Keller told council he would post signs, check IDs and not serve full drinks. The council approved the special designated license.
Sip and Stroll licenses: Council approved a slate of special designated license applications for the York Sip and Stroll event scheduled Sept. 25; the applicant Madonna was not present but the council approved the slate by voice vote.
Fire station equipment: The council approved a $36,587.86 quote from Johnson Fitness and Wellness to supply exercise equipment for the new fire station; the chief said the project fits within an internal $40,000 budget and that Johnson participates in the OMNIA purchasing cooperative. Council voted in favor.
Mover’s permit (Joanne Grouchian): Council held a public hearing on a mover’s permit to relocate a 2004 modular home to a lot south of East First Street and east of South Iowa Avenue. City staff (Dan) described inspections, flood-plain considerations, utilities and sidewalk requirements; the applicant’s plans call for a full basement. No one spoke in opposition and the council approved the permit.
Voting and notes: Votes on these items were recorded at the meeting; in routine consent votes councilmembers generally recorded affirmatives. One earlier item (a claim payment) included an abstention by Councilmember North on a separate motion (see minutes).
