Murray County approves $250,000 top-up for septic loan fund and several equipment and contract purchases

The Murray County Board approved a set of funding and procurement requests, including an additional $250,000 for the county's septic loan program and multiple equipment and contract purchases.
Jean, county staff, told commissioners that the septic loan program has loaned about $2,500,000 since 2003 and had exhausted this year's allocation; she asked the board to allocate an additional $250,000 to finish the year. "It is a 4% loan, and they can choose a 5 or a 10 year term," Jean said. Commissioners moved, seconded and approved the additional allocation by voice vote.
The board also approved two aquatic invasive species (AIS) billboards under a Lamar contract totaling $10,374, funded from AIS funds. Facilities and fleet items approved included authorization to purchase a late-model Chevy Silverado 1500 crew cab (4WD) not to exceed $45,000 to restore motor-pool capacity; staff said AIS and buffer accounts will fund the purchase.
Other approvals included a John Deere X758 lawn tractor and implements priced at $29,865.89 (staff expect net cost to fall after auctioning older machines), and a Siemens Desigo CC building-automation software upgrade for $8,993 plus a $948 annual subscription for ongoing support.
Commissioners confirmed funding sources where noted and approved each motion by voice vote. Staff said some purchases will be paid from special accounts (AIS, buffer funds) or designated line items in the county budget.
