Murray County conditionally accepts low bid for CR 42 project and approves DNR-backed shore-fishing sites

Engineering staff read four bids: ANC Excavating at $585,191.95; Henning Construction at $665,941.50; Midwest (contract) at $606,350.95; and Town & Country at $544,884.85. "Engineer’s estimate: $640,906.50," the presenter said, then recommended staff review and return with a formal award recommendation. After discussion a commissioner moved to accept the low bid conditionally upon verification; the motion carried.
The action leaves the formal award pending verification of bids and bonds. "We will return after this next item to tally the bids and report back to the board," the engineering presenter said, and commissioners instructed staff to confirm accuracy before final contract award.
Separately, the board approved a resolution authorizing the county to accept DNR reimbursement to construct shore-fishing pullouts along County Road 13 (project SAP 051613009). Staff said the DNR program is reimbursement-based: the county will pay for construction and submit costs for reimbursement under the cooperative agreement. The presenter said there appeared to be funding to construct about five sites depending on bid results; commissioners adopted the resolution and authorized the county chair and staff signatories to execute the agreement.
Commissioners framed the projects as a mix of transportation and outdoor-recreation improvements. The engineering presenter noted the road is also scheduled for an overlay, and staff said officials hope to complete early-spring work contingent on bid verification and contract timing.
Next steps: staff will verify low-bid documentation and return to the board with a recommendation for contract award; the DNR cooperative agreement will be signed by county officials so reimbursements can proceed once work is complete.
