York council repeals Public Works Advisory Board ordinance

The City of York Council on Feb. 19 voted to adopt Ordinance 2430, which repeals Chapter 2, Article 7, Division 3 (sections 2431–2435) that established the Public Works Advisory Board.
Dan, a city staff member, described the advisory board as a longtime volunteer group that has met infrequently in recent years. "There hasn't been any need for that advisory board anymore because it still came down to public works had to make the decisions," Dan said, explaining that low attendance and the current staff structure reduced the board's usefulness.
Councilmembers noted past members by name during the discussion but said the change is primarily a cleanup of ordinance language to reflect current practice. A motion to suspend the rules for immediate passage was made and seconded; council recorded aye votes and passed the ordinance the same night.
The ordinance repeal removes the standing advisory body's codified requirements; staff and council indicated that public-works issues will continue to be handled by departmental staff and by council oversight as needed. The ordinance's passage was recorded on Feb. 19, 2026.
