City of York launches comprehensive plan update; council appoints steering committee

City administrator Dr. Crawford told the council that the city has launched a comprehensive plan update and that staff and consultants (RG) have prepared a public process that uses the 2017 plan as a starting point. The update will assess what the city has accomplished, what still needs attention and new priorities; staff pointed to an interactive map on the comp‑plan website that allows residents to post comments and photos for specific locations.
Dr. Crawford said the steering committee—appointed by the council at the meeting—will provide broad community representation and work with consultants on listening sessions and community outreach. Staff scheduled the initial public meetings for May 29: the steering committee meets with consultants at 3:30 p.m. and a joint session with the planning commission and consultants is set for 5:30 p.m.
Councilors approved the full slate of mayoral appointments to the steering committee on motion and roll-call vote. Staff said copies of past reports and linked resources (Tower Crossing, downtown revitalization) are available on the comp‑plan website to inform the update process.
