The Ennis City Commission voted Aug. 20 to adopt a resolution signaling the city's continued commitment to advance the Ennis Avenue underpass project and to work with NCTCOG and other regional partners to address funding and design details.
Interim City Manager Ortiz summarized recent updates and said staff identified a potential funding gap of $5,000,000 in recent cost proposals. The packet included estimates of design and construction costs and a proposed funding approach that might include a repayment agreement to secure regional funding through NCTCOG.
Commissioner Watson moved to accept the resolution of support and the motion was seconded by Mayor Pro Tem Isbell. The voice vote carried and the commission directed staff to continue coordination with the regional partners and to refine scope and funding options for future commission consideration.
