RSU 23 board approves multiple hires, job descriptions and MOA amendment

The approved hires listed in the minutes are: Patrick Sylvia (Old Orchard Beach High School special education), Casie Levesque (physical therapist), Robert Duane (Jameson Elementary special education), Jacquelie Hayes (guidance counselor), Chad Denis (Old Orchard Beach High School history), Kaliegh Marston (Jameson PreK), Cynthia Nye (K–12 gifted & talented teacher), and Derek Moore (Loranger Memorial School fourth-grade teacher). The motion to approve the slate was made by Peter Flaherty, seconded by Michelle Violette, and the minutes record the vote as unanimous.
The board also recorded two accepted resignations (Jocelyn Conley and Lindsey Butler) and made a motion to accept Lynn Gierie's request for a one-year leave of absence to care for a family member; the minutes show the motion and second but do not record an explicit roll-call or vote result for that leave request.
Superintendent Jon Suttie noted that new teachers will attend orientation Aug. 30 and full staff will report Aug. 31, with workshops scheduled through Sept. 1. The board adjourned at 6:30 p.m.
