The council opened a public hearing on the application before the vote; Mayor Johnson explained the town's intent and the hearing drew no public comments. Councilmember Jeremiah Harding moved to submit the CIB application and Mayor Johnson seconded; the motion carried with all present voting in favor.
According to the council's discussion, the town could provide up to $25,000 in matching funds from its capital improvement fund. Council discussion noted the purchase is intended to improve storage and maintenance capacity for town roads and equipment. A member of the public asked during the meeting whether the CIB assistance would be a grant or a loan; Mayor Johnson clarified the town was applying for a grant.
Next steps are to complete and submit the CIB application and follow the board's review schedule. The town instructed the applicant to record required documents with the Tooele County Recorder and provide originals to the town for its records.
