Crawford council passes ordinance changing meeting time, accepts resignation and approves hires and purchases

The Crawford City Council on March 11 unanimously passed Ordinance 699 (after suspending the three‑reading rule) to change the location and time of council meetings, and accepted the resignation of Council member Brent Gebbie.
Council President April Grant made the motions to both suspend readings and then to pass and publish Ordinance 699; recorded votes show AYE from Grant, DeBock, Gebbie and Dean. Later in the meeting members accepted Gebbie’s resignation after a separate motion by Scott DeBock.
The council also approved several staffing and equipment items. The park department was authorized to purchase a Super Z 72‑inch zero‑turn mower at a dealer price of $13,860.17 (dealer honored prior-year pricing; retail list cited as $19,063). Council approved seasonal hires for park and cemetery maintenance (hire: Ian Anderson at $13.50/hour), golf-course clubhouse and grounds positions (several hires with rates between $13.50–$17.00/hour), and the Villa Board’s appointment of Patti Page. Council approved staff attendance at trainings, including GWorks onboarding on April 8 and Wastewater class 1 in June for Edward Blacksheep.
Council directed staff to advertise two open Park Board positions and to research and issue a request for proposals for a grant-writer position; the city attorney advised an RFP is required to retain such services. The Planning Commission-approved building permit for a truck scale at 305 1st Street was discussed but tabled while alternative locations are considered.
The council approved bills and claims totaling $97,252.80 and adjourned at 9:39 p.m.
