Crawford council fills clerk slot, approves trainer and multiple repairs

The Crawford City Council approved multiple personnel and maintenance actions at its Feb. 25 meeting. Council President April Grant moved to hire Teri (transcribed also as Terri) Miller as City Clerk/Treasurer at $22.50 per hour; the motion passed after Council Member Brent Gebbie and Council Member Scott DeBock voted no and Mayor Shane Norman cast the tie-breaking aye.
The council unanimously approved hiring Jane Dailey at $20 per hour to train the new clerk beginning Feb. 26, 2025, with Dailey's role described as strictly training. The council accepted the resignation of Interim Clerk/Treasurer Jeanie Daigger and approved her transition to a part-time public transportation driver position at $14 per hour starting Feb. 26, 2025.
On maintenance items, the council approved repairs to a Chevy dump truck at Floyd's Truck Center for an estimated $4,013.35 and approved up to $4,000 to repair a sewer line at a city-owned property at 250 Main St. Council also approved updating bank signatures (pending bond approval) to include the new Clerk/Treasurer and approved staff attendance at a water-operator training workshop (Chadron, March 18, $65 per person).
In separate equipment decisions tied to water operations, the council approved an Omaha Pneumatic combined compressor purchase for $12,580.24 pending a voltage confirmation and supplier approval. One electric/wiring item for the plant (anode wiring) was tabled pending sample analysis and a consult with the plant builder.
