Parks commission defers large ‘Hold My Beer’ event after neighborhood safety and logistics concerns

The Kenosha Board of Parks Commission on Aug. 11 voted to defer a permit for a large beverage‑centered event proposed for Senoyer Park, citing unresolved safety and logistical concerns.
Angela Creston, who identified herself as the event representative, told the commission the event operator will provide off‑duty KPD officers for security and that the music would end earlier than the park closing time. "We have off duty KPD officers that'll be on, that's who's gonna be doing our security and all of our safety planning," Creston said. She asked that music be allowed to stop at 9 p.m. with final tear‑down the following morning because a refrigerated beer trailer from CJW cannot be moved over the weekend.
Commissioners pressed organizers on neighborhood impacts and public safety. "What I mean, I'm not — I'm sure it's very safe, but could you tell us what your way of ensuring the safety of the axe throwing is?" asked Commissioner Mirowski, raising concerns about mixing alcohol and an axe‑throwing attraction. Staff clarified that the unit requires trained attendants and waivers before patrons get on the platform and that cones and a defined perimeter are part of the setup.
The chair proposed, and the commission approved, a motion to defer the application until a special meeting the week before the next common council meeting so the applicant could provide a revised, written plan addressing operational details, hours, security staffing, and takedown logistics. The commission said it wants the revised application on the record so staff and aldermanic representatives can review neighborhood‑cleanup plans and enforcement arrangements in writing.
The decision leaves the permit unresolved; commissioners said the applicant may return to the special meeting with the requested clarifications. The special meeting was scheduled for 06:50 p.m. the Monday prior to the common council meeting to permit further review.
