Commissioners approve courthouse door locks, election laptop purchase, vehicle transfers and culvert resolution

The commission approved spending $2,000 from the Courthouse Equipment Reserve to install electronic door lock assemblies at the Community Building and the Bressner Building. The motion was made by Commissioner Kevin Stuber, seconded by Commissioner Jerry Sedlacek, and passed unanimously according to the meeting record.
The board also approved the Clerk’s request to purchase a new election laptop from Adkins Election Services for $5,233. The purchase will be paid from the Election Equipment Reserve and is expected to be reimbursed 90% by the State (Kansas Secretary of State grant reimbursement). The motion was made by Commissioner Kevin Stuber and seconded by Commissioner Jerry Sedlacek; the motion passed.
On vehicle and equipment moves, commissioners authorized Road & Bridge to pay $1,500 from the Special Machinery fund to purchase a Chevrolet Tahoe from the Sheriff’s Office, with proceeds deposited into the Sheriff’s Equipment Reserve Fund. The board also approved transferring a 3/4-ton Ford pickup from the Transfer Station to Road & Bridge in exchange for the Tahoe. Motions were made by Commissioner Kevin Stuber and seconded by Commissioner Jerry Sedlacek; both motions passed.
Treasurer Michelle Zimmerman presented and the commission approved Resolution 26-09 regarding culvert and entrance installation applications and the Entrance/Culvert Application effective June 11, 2026. The motions to adopt the resolution and authorize the application were moved by Commissioner Kevin Stuber, seconded by Commissioner Jerry Sedlacek, and passed.
The commission approved vouchers in the amount of $84,100.62 and then adjourned at 12:31 p.m.
Funding sources and notes: the courthouse lock purchase was funded from Courthouse Equipment Reserve; the election laptop comes from Election Equipment Reserve and is expected to be 90% reimbursed by the State; the Tahoe purchase was funded from Special Machinery with proceeds credited to the Sheriff’s Equipment Reserve Fund.
