Cheatham County approves budget amendments, appointments and surplus asset sale
Summary
On Nov. 18 the Cheatham County Legislative Body approved multiple budget amendments (county general fund, education capital projects, capital improvements), authorized the surplus sale of a 2012 ambulance, funded courthouse sidewalk repairs, and confirmed several mayoral appointments and administrative contract signatures.
The Cheatham County Legislative Body on Nov. 18 approved a set of financial and administrative measures, including budget amendments, asset disposition and several mayoral appointments.
Director of Accounts Sandrine Batts presented budget adjustments to the County General Fund covering line items such as the South Cheatham Library ($393.00), Cheatham County Library ($671.83), Senior Citizens Assistance ($3,629.00), Public Safety Projects ($15,000.00) and other smaller allocations. The Legislative Body approved the County General Fund amendments by roll call vote 10–0 with two absences (Resolution 6).
The body also authorized an Education Capital Projects Fund amendment of $23,900.97 (funding source: unused note proceeds); that motion passed by roll call vote 10–0 (Resolution 7). Commissioners approved an Other General Government Projects capital improvements allocation of $27,828.56 (funded from county general fund balance) by roll call vote 10–0 (Resolution 8).
Separately, the county approved declaring a 2012 Ford F-350 ambulance (VIN 1FDRF3GT5CEC34614; mileage 134,519) surplus and placing it on GovDeals with a reserve of $7,500; the motion passed by roll call vote 10–0 (Resolution 9). The Capital Improvements Committee moved to fund courthouse sidewalk repairs in the amount of $4,500; that motion also passed by roll call vote 10–0 (Resolution 10).
County Mayor Kerry McCarver presented administrative items that were approved by voice vote, including the mayor’s signature on an archives grant funding contract, a Dataworks printer maintenance renewal for the Sheriff’s Office, and a Kingston Springs Library lease agreement. The mayor also presented appointments: Gary Chance and Ty Brown to the Planning Commission, and Brenda Montgomery to the 911 Emergency Board (Resolution 5).
The consent calendar included approval of Notary Public applicants (Resolution 11). All recorded roll-call votes on budget and capital items were unanimous in favor among the ten commissioners present; two members were absent for the votes (Chris Gilmore and Randy Liles).
