Cheatham County approves rezoning for property on Old Clarksville Pike

The Cheatham County Legislative Body on Nov. 18 approved a rezoning request by property owner William A. Talley to change a 1.83-acre portion of Map 37, Parcel 25 from E1 to R1 for a site along Old Clarksville Pike in the county’s 2nd voting district.
The request was presented to commissioners by Building Commissioner Franklin Wilkinson. Wilkinson told the body that the parcel is not located in a Special Flood Hazard Area and that the Planning Commission recommended the change on a 6–0 vote. No members of the public spoke for or against the rezoning during the advertised public hearing.
Commissioner Tim Williamson moved to approve the rezoning and Ann Jarreau seconded. The Legislative Body approved the change by roll call vote, 10–0, with Chris Gilmore and Randy Liles recorded as absent.
The approval allows the property to be developed under the R1 residential classification rather than the prior E1 designation; Wilkinson’s presentation did not specify proposed development plans. The decision follows the Planning Commission’s unanimous recommendation and will be recorded as Resolution 4 in the county minutes.
No appeals, conditions, or mitigation measures were recorded in the meeting minutes; the first procedural step after the vote is ministerial recording of the rezoning in county land records.
