Williston approves Park District lease for sledding hill; directs lots be offered for development bids

Commission approved an MOU to transfer control of a sledding hill area to the Park District under a $1-per-year lease and voted to put several city lots in Block 24 up for bid with development plans required.
The Williston City Commission approved a Memorandum of Understanding to transfer control of the proposed sledding-hill area west of the Water Department building to the Williston Park District so the district can maintain the hill and carry insurance for accidents. Justin Parkinson, who requested the transfer, said volunteers had offered to help construct the hill; the proposed lease amount is $1 per year. Commissioner discussion noted parking and liability concerns; the motion to approve the MOU after final attorney review of the lease carried 5-0.
Separately, Joe LaFave requested that Lots 1–3, 7–12 and Outlot 1 in Block 24 (Bruegger’s 2nd Addition) be put up for bid for an extended-stay hotel. The Commission discussed vacating a T-alley as part of the proposal and agreed that a development plan should be submitted with any bid to allow review of site design and alley vacation. MOTION by H. James Lawson, 2nd by Brent Bogar to put the listed lots up for bid and require a development plan with bids carried 5-0.
