Williston approves several lot sales, sets minimum bids for other parcels

The Williston Board of City Commissioners voted to award Lot 7 in Wegley Subdivision to Richard and Lauri Radle for $6,500 and Lot 8 to Troy Johnson for $6,104, with conditions that the lots not be sold separately from adjoined properties without further Board approval. Doug Lalim, building official, presented the ad hoc committee recommendation and staff said lots in floodplain require tying parcels to existing homeowner lots.
Separately, the commission rejected an offer of $54,000 for blocks in Joan Hagan Subdivision as below market compared with nearby sales and ordered the property be bid out instead. The commission also rejected a $20,000 offer for Lot 8 of Sloulin Field 1st Addition and set a minimum bid for that lot: after an amendment by Commissioner Howard Klug to increase the floor, the commission established a $60,000 minimum and authorized bidding.
Commissioners said the actions aim to protect fair market value for publicly owned land and to require development plans where appropriate. All motions carried 4-0 with Commissioner H. James Lawson absent.
