Commission orders contractors to relocate trailers to Cimarron Heights by Dec. 31

Resident Mike Daniels told the commission Dec. 8 that trailers and fifth-wheel units parked near a construction site by Cascade Homes were affecting his neighborhood and asked that they be moved to the Cimarron Heights Trailer Park.
Director of Building Inspections Doug Lalim said Cascade Homes had placed trailers at the south end of a property because of a lack of parking and that he observed nine trailers at one site that evening. Lalim said he had asked the job foreman to contact the city auditor about available spaces at the city-run trailer park. City Auditor John Kautzman told commissioners the park charge is $165 per month with a $100 security deposit, with trailer owners responsible for electricity while the city furnishes water and sewer.
Commissioners discussed a reasonable relocation timeframe and voted to require contractors to move their trailers off construction sites and into the Cimarron Heights Trailer Park by Dec. 31, 2009. The motion was made by Commissioner Lawson and seconded by Commissioner Bekkedahl; the vote was 5-0.
