Williston adopts new bulk water rates, sets tiered pricing

Under the resolution, the monthly rate is $5 per 1,000 gallons for usage from 0 to 50,000 gallons and $12 per 1,000 gallons for consumption above 50,000 gallons. Commissioner Brent Bogar moved to approve the measure and Commissioner Brad Bekkedahl seconded the motion; the vote was 5-0.
City officials said the change responds to large users of bulk water and is intended to better align rates with usage. The resolution was read into the record by Commissioner E. Ward Koeser during the commissioners’ report on utilities.
The commission did not specify an effective date in the meeting discussion beyond adopting the resolution; staff were directed to implement the rate schedule in the city billing system and related customer information.
