Williston commission approves routine bids, security work, special assessments and personnel actions
Summary
In a regular session Oct. 14, the Williston commission approved equipment and vehicle bids, accepted the high bid for a city roll-off system, approved special assessments and a personnel probation waiver, and directed a warning letter to a liquor-license holder after a Sunday-sale violation.
At its Oct. 14 meeting the Williston Board of City Commissioners handled several routine administrative items, including procurement, personnel and assessments.
The board accepted Murphy Motors’ bid of $20,130 for a ½-ton extended-cab pickup for the Engineering Department and Select Ford’s $20,800 low bid for a ¾-ton pickup for the Landfill Department. The board also accepted OB Gunderson’s high bid of $20,001 for the sale of a city-owned IHC roll-off system. All procurement motions carried by unanimous vote of those present.
Staff presented a detailed list of accounts and claims totaling $746,262.24 that was approved as part of the consent agenda. The commission also approved Special Assessments recommended by the Special Assessment Board, including lot-mowing, water/sewer/street improvements and sidewalk assessments; staff noted the bond interest rate is estimated and will be locked when bonds are sold.
On personnel matters, the commission waived probationary periods for re-hired employees Rainnie LaDue and Ken Bergstrom. The board approved a $3,719.96 microwave remote-connection purchase from the General Fund to restore remote computer links for several city facilities. The commission authorized Ebel Inc. to install a burglary and fire alarm connection at $1,353.74 with no annual fee. The commission appointed election clerks and inspectors for the coming election and approved the final plat for the Water’s Edge low-income housing project contingent on closing and recording.
On enforcement, the board held a public hearing on an alleged liquor-license violation by M & H; police said the employee pleaded guilty in municipal court. The commission directed City Attorney Pete Furuseth to send a warning letter stating "this type of violation will not be tolerated by the Commission." The vote to send the warning was unanimous.
The meeting concluded after an executive-session discussion on an economic development matter.
