Board hears Organic Life presentation; a la carte fruit and vegetable price held at prior level

"When Organic Life comes into a new school, it creates a completely different experience for students," the company's presenter said, describing made-from-scratch menus, fruit-and-vegetable bars and a flexible, locally managed operations model. Scott Murphy, introduced as regional district manager, said Organic Life plans student advisory groups, real-time meal dashboards and training for cafeteria staff.
Board members asked whether Organic Life would control a la carte pricing. The presenter confirmed the company manages ala carte offerings and acknowledged recent proposed increases to fruit-and-vegetable pricing; he said he could hold that price at $0.50 "if that's what the board would like." The board later voted to approve student and adult a la carte pricing for 2026–27 with the explicit note to change fruit-and-vegetable pricing back to the prior ala carte level.
District staff said the company had already begun onboarding employees and would work with the district over a busy transition summer. Organic Life representatives reiterated a willingness to work with district staff on menu choices and culturally responsive meal options.
The board's action on a la carte pricing was recorded in the consent/new-business motions and passed by roll call.
