Public Works Foreman Mr. Kobyl told the council on June 17 that the city will replace remaining 64‑gallon trash cans with 95‑gallon containers as part of a sanitation program to standardize equipment and align rates. "Basically what we want to do is replace all the existing cans with 95‑gallon containers," he said, adding the city has not purchased 64‑gallon containers in three years.
Council approved the program and a proposed monthly rate adjustment of $2.20 to cover the replacement. Mr. Kobyl said the city will send a mailer three weeks ahead of the change, include a stuffer with utility bills and publish information on social media. Contact phone numbers will be provided for residents with questions.
The motion to approve the program and rate adjustment carried by voice vote. The council did not record a roll-call tally in the meeting transcript.
