Maple Valley council approves agenda, extends meeting; public commenter urges Witte Road repairs and flags golf-clubhouse condition

The Maple Valley City Council approved the meeting agenda and later voted to extend the meeting twice during a special joint meeting with the Planning Commission on March 31, 2025. Deputy Mayor Dana Parnello moved to approve the agenda; Councilmember Les Burberry seconded and the motion carried 7-0.
A later motion by Councilmember Victoria Schroff to extend the meeting to 8:30 p.m. (seconded by Councilmember Didem Pierson) carried 7-0, and at 8:29 p.m. Councilmember Didem Pierson moved to extend the meeting again to 8:45 p.m.; Councilmember John Herbert seconded and that motion also carried 7-0.
During the public comment period, Joan Skistimas of Maple Valley urged the council to repave Witte Road and said she was "very concerned about the conditions of the Lake Wilderness Golf Course Clubhouse," according to the minutes. The minutes do not record a staff response or follow-up direction on either issue.
City staff announced the next regular business meeting for April 14, 2025 at 6:30 p.m. at Lake Wilderness Lodge, and the special meeting adjourned at 8:35 p.m.
