Irondequoit board calls public hearing for proposed rezoning near Rochester General Hospital

The board authorized a public hearing for rezoning several parcels (including 1422 Portland Ave and Buell Drive parcels) to R-5 residential to allow continuity of parcel zoning and potential demolition and replacement with one or two apartment buildings.
The Irondequoit Town Board on June 16 authorized a public hearing to consider rezoning multiple parcels (1422 Portland Avenue; portions of Onondaga Road; and Buell Drive parcels) to R-5 residential.
A staff member (Bill) explained the rezoning was requested by the property owner to create one contiguous parcel for the Northside Manor Apartments area, permit demolition of some vacant structures and enable construction of one or two additional apartment buildings that would match existing development. The parcels sit just east of Rochester General Hospital and the rezoning would simplify a patchwork of current zoning types.
The board set the matter for public hearing at the next meeting and voted to schedule that hearing. No substantive debate on the rezoning occurred at the June 16 meeting; the vote authorized only the public-notice and hearing process.
