Irondequoit approves CDBG contracts supporting seniors, food access and housing services
Summary
The Town Board authorized multiple CDBG-funded contracts for Aug. 1, 2026–July 31, 2027: $27,000 to Catholic Charities for non-medical home support; $27,000 to Housing Council at PathStone for counseling; $25,000 to Irondequoit Community Cupboard for food assistance; and two Lifespan contracts ($15,000 Home Safe Home; $30,000 transportation).
At its June 16 meeting the Irondequoit Town Board approved eight Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) resolutions funding social-service providers for the program year beginning Aug. 1, 2026.
Comptroller Diana summarized each contract. Approved awards include:
- Catholic Charities Family and Community Services — $27,000 for non-medical home support services (transportation to medical appointments, assistance with chores and subsidized house-cleaning and repairs). - Housing Council at PathStone — $27,000 for housing counseling and foreclosure-prevention assistance to low- and moderate-income residents. - Irondequoit Community Cupboard — $25,000 to provide healthy food options and address food insecurity. - Lifespan of Greater Rochester, Inc. — $15,000 for the Home Safe Home program (fall-prevention assessments and minor home modifications for residents age 62+ and people with disabilities) and $30,000 for transportation services (mobility management and trips for medical appointments and errands for residents 60+).
Board members expressed appreciation for the agencies and staff work identifying and connecting residents to services. Each resolution was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote.
