It's about 1,500 linear feet in length and encompasses just under 4 acres in size," staff stated during the presentation. Staff also said 50‑foot utility and streetscape easements are proposed on both sides of the roadway and that the plat "matches the character classification and functional classifications as recommended" in the Engage New Albany strategic plan.
Commissioners asked procedural and engineering questions before admitting the staff reports and related documents into the record. After a motion and second, the commission called the roll and the clerk announced five votes in favor; the motion to recommend approval passed. No conditions that changed the core engineering dimensions were recorded in the meeting transcript.
The commission's recommendation moves FPL 55 to the City Council for final consideration. According to staff remarks at the hearing, the plat seeks to provide greater connectivity west of the Amgen site and exceed the thoroughfare recommendations in the strategic plan. The council will receive the recommendation and decide whether to approve the final plat at a future meeting.
