Commission keeps temporary satellite office and emergency-preparedness items for follow-up

The Moderator read a Vision Plan suggestion to "establish temporary satellite city halls in conjunction with other public facilities to reduce the inconvenience of conducting city business during the peak tourist season." Commissioners recalled past ideas (including reserving AV space at the Quincy Center) and argued the item merits retention for emergency-preparedness planning and contingency operations.
County emergency-management resources were discussed; the Moderator said the county has an emergency manager who maintains a plan done in conjunction with Carroll County and offered to invite that manager to brief the Planning Commission. Participants asked staff to clarify whether reviewing or updating the emergency-management plan falls within the Planning Commission's purview and asked for public-record access to the existing plan.
The commission agreed to keep the satellite-office/emergency preparedness language in the Vision Plan and to schedule follow-up with county emergency-management staff.
