Board member Adelina to step down at end of school year, cites redistricting advocacy conflict

"My final day as a board member will be the last day of the school year... I would rather step down honestly than remain in a position where my advocacy for my community could create division or question about my role," she said.
Adelina said she will dedicate her time to supporting redistricting conversations to ensure San Luis families have representation and connections to their schools. Trustees thanked her for her service; the board noted it will be in contact regarding the vacancy. On the record, Adelina said her resignation does not signal a withdrawal of support for the district; she said she will continue to advocate for teachers and students.
The board did not take a formal vote at the meeting regarding Adelina's departure; she stated her last day will be the last day of the school year. The board confirmed its next regular meeting date (June 9) and proposed a June 23 meeting for budget adoption timing before adjourning.
